    1. PANGOT (310KMS) 

    A picturesque hamlet recognised for as many as 580 avian species is a bird watcher's and ornithologist's dream. Tucked away in Uttarakhand's scenic Kumaon area, this small sanctuary is one of the most underestimated hill stations in North India, yet it is well worth a visit. Those seeking a challenge might embark on a hiking excursion from Pangot to Naina Peak or China Peak.

    HOW TO REACH: Pangot is about 17 kilometres from Nainital and is around an 8-hour trip from Delhi via NH 9. Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to the hill station (52 km).

    2. MUKTESHWAR (333KMS)

    HOW TO REACH: The distance between Delhi and Chail may be travelled in around 7.5 hours by car via NH 44. The nearest airport is located 63 kilometers away in Shimla's Jubarhatti district. The nearest major railway station is around 77 kilometers away, at Kalka Railway Station.

    5. MASHOBRA (359KMS)

If you want to learn more about the area's flora and animals, you may visit Mashobra's Reserve Forest Sanctuary.
