Bharti Airtel has announced the acquisition of an
undisclosed strategic interest in Singapore-based Blockchain platform Aqilliz.
Airtel intends to extend Aqilliz's Blockchain solutions
across its rapidly expanding adtech (Airtel Ads), digital entertainment (Wynk
Music & Airtel Xstream), and digital commerce (Airtel Thanks App) services.
Aqilliz has created a unique hybrid blockchain architecture
dubbed 'Atom,' which combines differential privacy with federated learning on a
distributed digital ledger.
This enables organisations to develop safe and consent-based
solutions for interacting with consumers in a quickly growing digitalization
that has become more decentralised.
"Aqilliz's patented technology will enable Airtel to
record and convey this value exchange in the form of permission and provenance
across the digital supply chain," stated Aqilliz's Founding CEO, Gowthaman
Ragothaman.
The Airtel Startup Accelerator Programme invests in limited
investment developing technologies that are complementary to Airtel's
commercial services.
The initiative allows entrepreneurs to launch their ideas and apps on a vast scale, including over 340 million retail users and over 1 million companies.
