7 WHISKIES TO TRY IF YOU LIKE YOUR DRINK WITH SPICE
Do you like a little spiciness in your whisky? These malts are ideal if you enjoy pepper, cinnamon, and undertones of aniseed. A lot of the flavour in a whiskey comes from the barrel it's normally aged in, which is oak. There are almost 600 different types of oak, and each one has qualities that represent its individual terroir. While not all are suited for ageing whiskey, the most frequent are Quercus alba (American oak) and Quercus robur (European oak), however distillers are getting creative with others from throughout the world, including as Japanese mizunara.
